Our friend Andy Birko and his CNC guitar parts company, Birkonium made some special and custom parts for us.

Although I neglected to get a pic of the maple fret board one of our guys is restoring and modifying a 30's archie to be a border crosser. More specifically a guitar with no embargoed parts on it, BRW, etc. So we needed a maple exact replacement and Andy delivered and we are absolutely thrilled.

What I did get a picture of are the custom fretboards that Dave needed for a special project that will lead to a published article about fret wire. If you recall Dave had converted a sewing machine to be a fret wire torture tester. :D Andy delivered again and we are thrilled with the boards pictured below as well.

For those who don't know Andy his company, Birkonium .com a CNC guitar parts maker offers necks, bridges and a host of other very cool products all of superb quality!

Here is a huge thanks to Andy for his very valued assistance!!!!

Hmmm. I wonder what scale length those FB's are. ?

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

+1 for Andy... he very recently went above and beyond on some bridges for me and they came out just great. Good stuff!

All I can say is it better not be coming North! There's already enough of us up here. We don't want to see the likes of y'all stompin' on our turf. (where's the stink eye face when you need it)
